break week pt. I
It’s been a whirlwind of a week! Daniel’s parents came to visit us in Helsinki all the way from Colorado. I was thrilled that they wanted to travel here and spend a week with us. Daniel and I really enjoyed showing them around our city — it felt a bit more like our first few weeks here, seeing the sights and taking in the city in the sun.
We showed them our favorite coffee shop, RAMS, in Ullanlinna. They instantly fell right in love, just as we had months ago. Daniel and I moved across town since living around the corner, so it felt special getting to visit RAMS twice last week!
While his parents were here, it was Daniel’s mission to cook them a proper meal at our apartment. He has really taken a liking to fine dining and cooking really extravagant meals at home, so it seemed like a great way to start the week. We went to our local market hall in Hakaniemi and picked up some yummy ingredients. It was truly a lovely night welcoming them to Helsinki and enjoying a home cooked meal.
We spent the next day moseying around in Töölö. Breakfast at Levain Bakery and walking to the top of the Rock Church. We ended the afternoon with a tour of the Aalto campus, where Daniel is currently going to school.
